In the 23rd century, humanity lives for pleasure. The catch is that no one may live to the age of 30. Upon reaching "Lastday," they partake in ceremonial execution. Those who try to flee are called Runners, and Logan (Michael York) is part of the elite Sandmen, who track down and kill runners. But the tables turn when Logan reaches his 29th birthday, and becomes a runner himself.

This movie started out kind of cool. We open with the shocking forced execution of a generation simply because it's their "Last Day." Interestingly, it would seem that, as usual, in the future everyone wears the same clothes. But it wasn't until I saw the cheesy ray guns (that didn't even shoot a beam or anything) that I knew I was in for a treat.

Eventually, Logan (the main character) reaches his Last Day and decides to run for the outside. I was all ready for the movie to end once he saw a ruined Washington DC. But I was mistaken. By God, I was mistaken. Though it seemed impossible for the story to continue, it did. And for another hour at that.

It's worth mentioning that among the MANY (two) big-name Hollywood actors in this film, Farrah Fawcett is one of them. She was on screen for a few seconds, and all she really did was smile once at the camera. Still, the back of the box proudly proclaims that the movie stars "Sexy actress Farrah Fawcett." I'm always more prone to watch a movie when it assures me one of the actresses is sexy.

This movie actually got an Oscar for special effects. Keep in mind this was before Star Wars. That film changed the ways special effects were created. This film used the robot seen below.

Yep.  It won an Oscar for special effects.

Logans Run

HUGE " production budgets do have a way of making special effects alot better and realistic. Lucas still used models aswell ' but no one can deny that Lucas STAR WARS did make anything else seem cheap and fake. But I still liked Logans Run all the same for the story . Lucas story was dumb and played to the kiddies a smart marketing tool. but without the millions spent on special effects and the music STAR WARS would have been just another boring film..........
